About the Health Complaints Commissioner

Our office was established under the Health Complaints Act 2016 to receive and deal with complaints about health service providers in Victoria. The Commissioner can also conduct investigations, issue warning statements and protect the public from serious risks by making Prohibition Orders on an interim or permanent basis against some types of health service providers. We also administer the Health Records Act 2001 which regulates the management of health information in Victoria. In fulfilling our role we act in an independent, fair and impartial manner.
